Ben Lindstrom is the current Cass County Attorney and lives just outside of Pine River with his wife and three children. Ben joined the Cass County Attorney’s Office as an Assistant County Attorney and has handled countless criminal and civil matters for the Office. He has experience obtaining indictments through the grand jury process and has successfully prosecuted matters involving murder, criminal vehicular homicide, serious assaults, burglaries, drug crimes, and more. Ben has successfully argued cases before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court.
When the former County Attorney became a Judge in Crow Wing County, the Cass County Board appointed Ben to fill the position. Thereafter, the voters of Cass County elected Ben to continue serving as their County Attorney. During his time with the Office, Ben has sought to balance the need for accountability with respect for the rule of law and due process. He has viewed cases with an eye towards finding practical solutions to problems that have a true impact on those involved, while also recognizing the reality of the Office's finite resources and the need to manage the risks associated with all litigation.
Before Ben became County Attorney, he worked as an Assistant Attorney in the same Office and concurrently served as the Treasurer for the City of Chickamaw Beach. Before that, he worked for the Public Defender’s Office in Brainerd and the Minnesota Judiciary in the Fourth Judicial District. Ben received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota.
